Repairing Teeth
Restorative dentistry is the everyday work of rebuilding teeth that have been damaged by decay, cracks, or years of wear, so they look and function the way they did before.
A tooth that can be repaired is almost always worth repairing. Treating decay early keeps the work small: a tooth-coloured filling takes one visit, while the same tooth left alone can progress to a root canal, a crown, or an extraction. We are conservative about how much healthy tooth we touch, and direct about what actually needs treatment now.
Fillings are matched to the natural shade of the tooth and shaped so your bite closes exactly as it should. For larger areas of damage, an inlay or onlay rebuilds the biting surface with a custom-made piece, restoring strength without covering the whole tooth.
Not all damage comes from decay. Grinding, clenching, old fillings that have flexed for decades, and acid erosion all wear teeth down over time. We look for the cause rather than only the symptom, and if grinding is behind it, a nightguard protects both your teeth and the work we do.
Repairing a tooth early is almost always simpler than replacing it later.
